When I try to open a word document, it opens in notepad. I have tried to right click to select opening it in a word document. I don't have that option when I right click. Are there other solutions?
    Thank you!

If you don't see Word in that list, try this:
    1. Right-click on any file with a .DOC file extension,
    2. select "Open With... ",
    3. select "Choose Program... ",
    4. click the "Browse" button,
    5. drill your way down into "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14 ",
    6. click the "WINWORD.EXE" file,
    7. click the "Open" button,
    8. select the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" option,
    9. and then click the "OK" button.
WINWORD.EXE (Microsoft Office Word 2010) is now the default program to open .DOC files. You can repeat this process for .DOCX files.

I don't think I was very clear with my first request. I don't have the option "open with" when I try to get this problem cleared up. Thanks for your patience.

You sometimes have to hold down the [Shift] key as you right-click to get the "open with" option. It doesn't work for every file type, but still handy. If that doesn't work, you might try OpenExpert.
