Inactive winsock2 and swearware

I have been having problems with my winsock. It keeps corrupting. To repair sometimes winsockfik will work, sometimes not. netsh winsock reset catalog is useless. Sometimes reinstalling IE8 works. Sometimes after diagnose connection windows will volounteer to fix it and sometimes this works but all fixes are temporary. Then I ran rootrevealer and found a shedload of entries for HKLM
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Swearware\backup\winsock2\Parameters\Protocol_Catalog9\Catalog_Entries\00000000001 and 2 and 3 etc with a security missmatch message. I get from the internet that swearware aint the best. Please can some XP Jedi Knights confirm that this is the cause of my problem? Also AVG reports IRP hook in drivers atapi and iastore. Sattelite A200 overheating Toshiba user.
