retiredlearner had recently opened a Thread in XP that was then moved to Comments & Suggestions but maybe it is a better place here.
When clicking on WindowsBBS "My System" the text changes to red but will not expand and unable to insert Smilies.
I am having the very same problems and have tested the issue on 4 different machines 2 x XP Pro, Vista Ultimate & Windows 7 Ultimate, on IE7, IE8, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrom & Opera, with the very same result on all.
I have downloaded and installed the latest update from Sun Java as I was told it could be a Java related problem, but no difference.

    anyone any ideas

Sounds like javascript is disabled. Maybe a security program?

3 different PC's with different OS different Firewall different AV would be a huge
coincidence, but mattman did also suspect a Java issue.
Where would you suggest that I start looking.
    thanks hawk22

Are you running Windows Defender or Microsoft Security Essentials on all three? Any other security program that is the same for all three?

    Check JavaScript

Hawk, I also have experienced this issue on my home pc as well as many other dozens of computers that I have used to access this website. I think it may be a website problem on Windowsbbs itself and not an issue with our computers since its happened on more than one system.

Whiskeyman, I have a feeling this happened after Windows Defender updates were installed as this is common to all my comps. And yes Javascript is running. Neil.

As Arie posted in another thread - it is not a problem with the BBS. No problem this side of the pond.

I don't run Windows Defender so that might have a bearing.

yes I do run windows defender and I tend to agree with retiredlearner that it could have started after a MS update.

and yes Java Script is enabled

just a maybe positive update, my Opera Browser is now expanding My System, all I can recall doing is a new Logg in.
Hopefully someone can make some out of this, in Mozilla Firefox after attempting to expand My System in Tools - Error Console I find the following message:
    vbmenu_register is not defined
hopefully someone can define that and come up with an answer.

Yeah, same here. Whatever the issue was it seems to have been fixed.
