    Hi,

New to this forum but followed the instructions here, output at the bottom of this post.

I've been having some problems with my Vista machine, which all started with installing Oracle virtualbox. My machine crashed during install, possibly due to a conflict with some other software, Cisco vpn client. Anyway, I've uninstalled the oracle and cisco software as best I can (the uninstaller for Oracle crashed too!), removed some nasties using malwarebytes (always good), and disabled as much stuff as I can from startup using AutoRuns, but still getting random BSODs. They are much less frequent now though - they went from several per day to one every few days after the above actions.

I appreciate any help. Thank you.

    KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (1e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
    Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffffc0000046, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffff80002ee7f98, The address that the exception occurred at
    Arg3: 0000000000000000, Parameter 0 of the exception

Do other BSDO's also point to snapman.sys? Try updating or uninstalling Acronis.

Thanks for your reply. The two most recent ones do yes, I've uninstalled Acronis Disk Director, let's see how that goes!

Well, things went from bad to worse.

I switched the machine off to do some dusting and cable management, and now when I turn it on I see the loading thing fade in, followed quickly by a 0x7B BSOD and a restart. I don't have the CD to do the chkdsk as suggested in the BSOD but could grab it at the weekend.

I'm tempted to do a fresh install TBH!

Edit: this looks good, and the internet archive still has it. I'll give it a try in a few days.

Ah... don't you just hate it when installers leave stuff behind when you try uninstalling software!

If you an edit the registry using your boot disk, check Removing Acronis SnapAPI Drivers

For the record I fixed the problems by removing all the relevant entries from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{...} -> UpperFilters. I think the ones I got rid of were `snapman`, `tdrpman258`, and `timounter` (I'm sorry I didn't record exactly which ones).

I think that because many of these {...} were being shared with other drivers, specifically to do with other apps like Paragon Partition Manager (e.g. one was hotcore3), they weren't removed by the uninstaller.

All good now! Many thanks for providing your advice and this forum.
