I will be sending a cellphone from North America to South Africa and this includes an adapter for the 2 blade North American plug to the 2 Pin South African plug.

Does anyone know if there will be any problem because of the actual power used, ie NA uses 110v and SA uses 250v.

    Many Thanks.

I lived in South Korea for a while and had similar problems. I had to buy a step down converter for all my 110v items.

Have a look at the info printed on the adaptor. If it says "Input: 120V - 240V" it should be safe to use on SA's 250V power without a step down converter. I don't think the difference between 240V and 250V should make a difference but maybe someone else can clarify. You should be able to use only the 2 prong>2 prong adaptor. If it only says 120V then you will need a step down converter as MitchellCooley suggests.

I was in Europe last fall and used my electric shaver charger (120V - 240V) just fine on the UK's 240V grid.

Just one other note: Do not try to use a step down converter with heavy duty appliances such as hair dryers. They usually cannot convert power adequately to keep up with the demand and could cause things to go awry. (fire, short circuits, etc.)
