Hello Everyone. I am a single white female with no children and or pets. I enjoy a quiet life in a small town in North Carolina.

I've been online since 1998 starting with Windows '95. I have a thing where I like to go into the settings and change things to see what they do; hence one reason I'm here. I've learned things the hard way but learned nevertheless and am still learning.

When I got this laptop back in 2013 it had Windows 8 Home 64-bit on it. I tried to learn it but had to restore it to factory when I woke up to an automatic install of Windows 8.1 on two separate occassions. I read a bit online and found this was a precursor to forcing Windows 10 so I bought Windows 7 Pro and haven't looked back.

Of course this means I've got some new issues that I didn't experience with Windows 8.

There are two specific ones that I would love to either solve or find a work around; Both of which I'm sure are related as they involve my network drives (and it seems an issue with Windows 7):

#1 In explorer (also in CubicExplorer Portable and Explorer++ and in Voidtools Everything) (I like to use 32 bit windows due to having many 32 bit shell extensions) while viewing an external drive after a few minutes of glee and enjoyment eventually upon right-click, the window(s) and/or program(s) hang/freeze/crash (not necessarily in that order but at least one or another happens).

#2 Whenever Windows is restarted I always get this message about 'Could not reconnect network drives'

So in my googling I've come across this site and it now I'm all set up here and I look forward to all your posts & shares!

P.S. Can anyone tell me how to add my picture to my profile? I've tried clicking on the 'shadow' picture in my profile but it says "You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action."

P.P.S. How do I upload the screenshots to show you what I'm talking about? When I click 'image' it only gives me a URL option.

mirclemandi - Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

At the top of the page - at the right hand end of the header bar with buttons for Forums - Members ... on the left end the first icon is a small head and shoulders, click on that to reveal a menu = click on Avatar.

At the bottom of the message pane, to the right of Post Reply is Upload a File - click on that.

The Introductions forum is strictly for 'Hello's' - it is not indexed for search purposes. Please start a new thread in the appropriate forum and outline your problem there ....

Thank you for your time and help but I must admit I feel ridiculous as I still don't see 'Avatar', if you were reerring to clicking on the head and shoulders avatar when i did that it took me to another page. As far as uploading pictures, at the bottom where is says 'reply to thread' the only thing beside it is 'preview'.

Please forgive my ignorance. I suppose it goes to show that I don't have much experience on forums. Thank you again. Amanda

Hi miraclemandi, Welcome to WindowsBBS. :) Sorry I won't be much help to you as I have always moved with the newest Windows OS. My only drive with W7 has been upgraded to W10 ;)
