    I am using Thunderbird 45.5.1 and Windows 10 home X64 Version 1607. Every time Thunderbird opens, a pop-up appears for System Integration. How can I get this pop-up to stop appearing?

    Set TB as the default email program in both of these locations:

    Tools > Options > Advanced tab > System Integration > checkmark "Always check to see..."

    Control Panel > Default Programs > set Thunderbird as defaul email program.

    That bug is from 2014 and has been fixed, though the issue may be specific to the user's system he can try adding that line to the thunderbird preferences javascript file.

    Yes, I did see the 2014 bugzilla suggestion, but I didn't feel it related to current software. Also, I don't know how to input this line to Java script.

    Tony, I've tried all variations of what you suggested, but nothing has any impact. Are there any other possibilities? This is my 95-year-old mother's computer, and everything must be very simple for her.

    In the profile directory there will be a file called pref.js.
    Open it in Notepad and add this line at the bottom:
    user_pref("mail.winsearch.firstRunDone", true);

    When I go to this file, this note is on top.

    * Do not edit this file.
    *
    * If you make changes to this file while the application is running,
    * the changes will be overwritten when the application exits.
    *
    * To make a manual change to preferences, you can visit the URL about:config

    Should I still make the change here?

    When I turned on her computer, Thunderbird automatically updated to 45.6.0. After restarting Thunderbird, the problem disappeared on its own. I didn't have to add the line. Thank you.
