I've just upgraded my machine from Win 8.1 to Windows 10 this weekend.
Now when I plug in a particular USB drive which I've used numerous times before, Windows 10 acknowledges it's presence (plays that quick tune announcing ''ts presence) & Disk Management lists it as in the top section, but not lower down.
If I right-click on the volume, all it gives me is 'Help ", not the big list of "Open, Explore, ... change drive letter and paths, ... etc .."
Any ideas how to rectify this?

    System Specs added

As background, this system started it's life running Vista 64-bit (never got to adding that extra 4GB of memory, so still only has 4GB). Rebuilt it with Win 8.1. If I plug the Vista HDD back in as primary in place of the Win10 one, USB devices all work as expected (including other devices as mentioned below). I don't want to go back to Vista though.
    ...
As an update for this Thread:
Also finding the system does not want to recognise thumb drives / USB sticks / memory sticks (whatever one wishes to call them), and on further testing not even our car's TomTom GPS gets recognised for more than about 5-10 seconds before dropping off the system!
Strangely though, it does recognise the printer [Canon Pixma MG2200 scanner / printer], and the first Seagate USB drive as listed in "My Specs" section thankfully - it is my data backup drive.
It also recognises the Microsoft Lifecam VX2000 and sound works with Skype, but haven't tested the video side. Assume it will if the sound 'echo' test works.
    ...
    ...
Great tool Speccy, will try to remember this for my other system.
It's interesting this machine seems to be having troubles with USB devices; my other one (also upgraded to Win 10 from Win 8.1, and originally ran Vista 64-bit) isn't having any troubles. It applies updates to our TomTom GPS with no troubles.
    ...
I hope I don't have to think about replacing this system.

Sounds like you need to install the Mobo Chipset drivers and or USB drivers that came with the mobo.

Mmmm, sounds a distinct possibility. But why work for some devices and not others? And I would have expected Windows 10 install to do it .. ??

All fixed - took two things

I updated the Mobo Chipset and USB drivers from the Intel website (it is listed under 'discontinued" motherboards, not unexpectedly), that changed the behaviour slightly.
So then I used USBOblivion tool to wipe the system's memory of all USB devices. Hey presto - this USB drive is now recognised and can be written to / read from, as can memory sticks. Now to test GPS devices.
    ...
Thanks for the prompt for the Mobo Chipset update, should have thought about that myself. You help was appreciated.

Will do. Unfortunately my phone's browser doesn't show that so will do that when back home in a week.

EDIT: I did it for you... Steve
