When I try to download directx from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

And I open the installer "dxwebsetup.exe" I get the error: "The procedure entry point sfc_os.sfcisfileprotected could not be located in the dynamic link library sfc.dll

It's a real problem because I'm a gamer and directx is often required... I think it may be corrupted or something on my computer.

    P.S
I am having a lot of other problems on my computer atm, maybe I downloaded something bad idk.

    thanks in advance:)

In that case I suggest you start with a Malware checkup: read this post, then post the requested log(s) in the Malware and Virus Removal forum.

If you are having other problems, get those addressed.

Something you could try is installing (reinstalling) your current version of DirectX, before trying to upgrade again.

I advise not using third-party DirectX "fixes ", work with what Microsoft provide.

Do you know your current version of DirectX? You can get information by running dxdiag (go to Start and type dxdiag into the Start Search bar, run dxdiag.exe).

Vista originally came with version 10. Looking at the list here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DirectX_11#DirectX_11
version 10.1 could be installed with Vista Service Pack 1 and DirectX version 11 can be installed with Service Pack 2.

I have Service Pack 2 and didn't actively seek to install DirectX 11, but I do have 11. So my DirectX has been upgraded through the Service Pack or by Windows Updates.

In the past, you went to the Microsoft website to get a DirectX upgrade, SpywareDr's information reminded me that Vista has only a few steps so far.

Those errors would suggest a version mis-match to me. Check your Windows Service Pack and Windows Updates.
