Since VM is doubling my speed FOC in the next couple of month I decided to test whether my 30Mb/s connection was actually supplying what they claimed so I ran a speed test @ www.speed.io and was happy to find that it is...

Looking forward to that 60Mb/s now :)

Anyway, I thought it may be interesting if some of us shared our internet connection speeds (both advertised and actually delivered).

    Download: 5165 Kbit/s
    Upload: 3305 Kbit/s
    Connects: 1567
    Ping: 36 ms

I pay for "up to" 12MB service, but never get that. I have a wireless modem/router through the SamKnows/FCC program and they run tests all the time. The best I've gotten is 9MB download speed. So, they are coming up a little short. Supposedly, Charter has 100MB service out there, but I'm sure that would cost more then my mortgage payment! :D

:) Since VM have a current top tier service of 100Mb/s they're actually reducing the costs of that and giving an extra 20mb/s on top. TBH I don't have any needs for such speed and am happy enough with 30Mb/s but rather than save ~£3 /month and drop to 20Mb/s I'll happily accept the 60 :D

Your upload isn't too bad though Mike, comparable to mine.

Like you, Wildfire, I have no need for 100MB service. I'd be happy with the 12MB that I should have now. Or the 60MB that you will have. Yea, the upload seems okay, but I hardly ever upload anything. I keep hoping the prices will dip one of these days, but that is wishful thinking I'm afraid. Enjoy your speed.

Yea, speed.io is located in Germany, while with Speedtest.net you can test in your own country.

    For me:

    Or

I regularly check my speed across multiple locations in the world with multiple test sites & take the average.

My speed is "only" 5Mbps down / 2Mbps up, but at least my provider has access to both (Vodafone & Melita Cable) ISP's connection's off this island ... and those 'pipes' are too small to run anything close to even 10Mbps.

This is the result to the hosting facility where the server running the forum is located:

Your up and down are reversed surely? I've never seen any supplier offer ~6 times upstream than downstream.

I pay for 100 Mb/s down and 10 Mb/s up. What I get varies over time depending on routes and "traffic congestion ". The best in "real life" (no test) was downloading SP1 for Windows 7. 900 MB in approximately one (1) minute which translates to approximately 150 Mb/s. It took IE8 much longer to copy the file from the temporary download location to my storage location. At the other end of the performance spectrum, downloading a small Update to Windows 7 (a few MB) can take "forever ".
