I have been checked here and partially at other tech forums for malware/viruses/you name it, I am entirely clean. That being said, I now know the problem is with windows xp 64 itself. The best I can describe it as, is the title unfortunately, I don't have tons to go on. Firefox and the plugin case for it always at high memory usage if that means anything. Also, like I said when I open windows update it gives me this link "http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2497281." I had update on automatic download, it no longer does. Also, Java has been giving me issues, I have uninstalled it "completely" and reinstalled, issues such as certain sites saying its not installed as a plugin or at all. These are the only things that strike me as odd. Note, that I have recently(within a year), replaced every part of my computer besides the processor. I read the posting rules for this particular forum, I don't see anything that needs to be done on the first post. If this is incorrect, let me know I will fix it.

    Thanks.

Yes, downgraded to XP Pro 64 bit, updated my specs in User CP, however, could not make out any significant details to the power source by looking at it.

hmm, let there only xp 64 pro or xp 64 as well?

Nvm, dumb question, well it's too late now though, it was recommended to me over vista 32 and 7 was too expensive at the time.

Agree 110% with rsinfo regarding XP 64 bit, it is a bit like an unfinished beta.
Vista 64 would be a much better solution in my book.

Oh and btw rsinfo, I allowed all to see my specs now, didn't know there was an option for that.

Teros I see in your System specs that you are on SP2, that is also not helping.
MS Support for SP2 has expired.

The above link is to MS Support titled : You may be unable to access the Windows Update website from Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Windows Server 2003 if those versions of Windows are not updated to the latest Service Pack

It aptly sums up your update problem. You need to download SP2 for Server 2003 64 bit from How to obtain the latest service pack for Windows Server 2003 as there is NO SP3 for 64 bit Win XP. Download & install it. Might just work.

well, I got my update to work, but it's only the older updates, most of them just useless word updates, which I never use that program, two always fail that may be needed which are sec update for .net framework and .net framework 3.5 service pack 1 .net assistant 1.0. I will try, never seen another sp before, I will try though.

Also, do I need to uninstall anything beforehand?

I seriously need some help with uninstalling java completely and reinstalling it, not working with the uninstall.

I was able to find a tweaking program that fixed and reset a bunch of things(including windows update), however, it still is hanging. It went from 18 to 21 updates. All of which I do not need, 2 are still there, even though I believe I have already installed them. These two are below, they fail every time I try to install, thus the conclusion of it's already installed. The others are related to apps from Microsoft that I don't use, such as word. So, All three below failed, re-tried, installing only these, same thing.

    1. Windows XP x64 Edition Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2572078)

    2. Windows XP x64 Edition Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB2533523)

    3. Windows XP x64 Edition Update to .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 for the .NET Framework Assistant 1.0 x64 (KB963707)

For Java problems, download & run JavaRa. To remove older versions on your computer click "Remove Older Versions ".

I did what you told me to do, however, even though it said it did, there was java 6 26, that was still there and could not remove it. While program files x86 has not java, the regular one I am guessing 64, has 7.1 or w/e the latest is. However, firefox has not recognized the plugin and therefore can't use it with Firefox..
