Okay since resolving the virus infection I had I've been unable to update iTunes.

I have gone through uninstall of iTunes, Quicktime, Bonjour .. followed instructions from Apple but still can't reinstall - I get the error message "Unable to uninstall previous version "

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks[/FONT]

Hi cozynruffs. Try removing Itunes using the portable version of Revo Uninistaller. See if that program will allow to remove Itunes.

Also please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions.

Note: A common error is to forget to show your System Details in your profile:

Make sure to do the above when entering your System Details, thanks.

Thanks :c) I used YourUninstaller to uninstall all the programs Apple said needing done. I downloaded Revo as well but none of the programmes are showing in the list. Have tried again to install iTunes but again it tells me the previous version can't be uninstalled.

I don't understand what you are saying. From what I see, I understand that the Add/Remove removes all iTunes-related programs, but they are not really uninstalled.
Can you find any traces of iTunes in your computer?
I have had some difficulties with Bonjour, which has two entries, and one cannot be removed.

Alright I uninstalled all related iTunes programmes. They do not show in the installed progammes list nor in Program Files (expect leftover of 1 file of Bonour which won't bugger off). I deleted the Common Files reference.

I can't see left overs except in Registry - which have no clue how to clean.

I have tried to reinstall iTunes and I get the error that it cannot uninstall previous version - which as far as I can tell is already uninstalled.

I followed Apples instructions to uninstall here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925

I am at a lost how to reinstall it all now.

Run Disk Cleanup and get rid of all temp files. There's probably apple temp files pointing to incomplete uninstalls/installs.

    Hello cozynruffs,

Download and install a copy of RegSeeker. Then, using RegSeeker do a search for I-Tunes and remove all entries found. Repeat the same for Bonjour, Apple, and Quicktime. Then reboot and using Windows Explorer, go in and delete any and all files and folders found under I-Tunes, Apple, Bonjour and Quicktime. Also look in each user and all users under Documents and Settings and check Application Data and Common Files - same instruction. Finally, check for any shortcuts in each user profile for the start menu and startup - same instruction. Now reboot.

Now you can go ahead and reinstall I-Tunes without any problems.

    ;)

And if you plan on being on here and helping and asking questions, please fill out the User CP near the top left of this page. We need to see your My System Specs.

Pleased to learn you found a tool to automate this. My suggestion also works quite well but as anyone can read, it takes a little work to do it manually.
