Windows Vista mmc could not create the snap in Device Manager

    mmc could not create the snap in
    Name Device Manager
    CLSID:{74246BFC-4C96-11D0-ABEF-0020AF6B0B7A}

    any idea how to get device manager to work as on vista home premium with service pack 2 device manager is white icon and when i try to open it in control panel or any were i get the above mmc msg.

    is there a simple fix or is vista a nightmare?

    Hi mac6, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

    Try this, click Start< All Programs< Accessories< Right click Command Prompt and click Run as Administrator. When the Command Prompt window opens type sfc /scannow and hit enter.

    SFC will start scanning your system files. When the process finishes close Command Prompt and reboot the computer. See if Device Manager will open now.

    Also please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions.
