I had a malware problem that forced me to reload Windows XP. I had the original disk and was able to re install the system. However, now I am unable to connect (via cable modem) to the web. When I look through the diagnostics XP is not recognizing my network adapters. Any ideas how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You need to install the chipset/video card/USB and LAN drivers after installing XP. Hopefully you have the cd with all this on it.

Hi Echoman. Since you reinstalled Windows XP have you installed the chipset drivers for your motherboard? The reason you can't get online is probably because you haven't installed the drivers for your network adapter. Do you know the make and model of your motherboard and your network adapters?

Also please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions.

Note: A common error is to forget to show your System Details in your profile:

Make sure to do the above when entering your System Details, thanks.

Scott and Evan, Thanks for replying. The PC is a Gateway E6000. Is it possible to download the drivers from the Gateway website or are the motherboard manufacturers considered third party vendors and I would need to try to get them there? Thanks again.

Gateway's web site would be the first place I looked.
