There seems to be some other issue now. I am not able to connect to the internet. Could there be some issue with the network adaptor. How can i get around this problem.

    Please advice.

    Regards,
    Amit

I have moved this from your original problem, since this isn't related.

You'll have to do some basic troubleshooting:

    • Is your adapter listed in device manager
    • Have you updated the drivers for the adapter?

Also: please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions!

    Hi,

I have never ever dealt with adaptors etc. Is there some listing somewhere that i shold go through to see if i have everything configured properly?

The laptop was working fine earlier, it is only that once i got BSOD and then i got around that screen by using the restore point. But now I am not able to connect to internet. Is this a known issue or is it that once the laptop is restored to some point we have to do some configuration? Please help

I am having HP 3 GB ram, intel core 2 duo 2.1 Ghz processor , 250 hard disk[i think - as the laptop is not with me currently]. Is there some other information that will be needed?

    Please help.

Then maybe you should edit your Profile and put Intermediate as your Computer Experience. I would have answered differently...

In Vista's Start search box type Device & click on the listing for Device Manger. Expand Network Adaters... anything listed there? Any exclamation marks shown?

You didn't (fully) answer the question:
Post the output from the following command here:

    ipconfig /all

    ping 127.0.0.1
