According to this article at ZDNet, the bad guys may not even have to install any software on your pc to get your keystrokes. It could be done through laser, keyboard power, electromagnetic induction & power lines.

    tinfoil hat report:

Actually, that technolohy dates back to the early 90's. I have a friend who used to be in the security business. He had a client around 1990 that was being monitored by the DoJ & FBI who were using similar tech, they were able to capture the screen using a device pointed at it from a window, across the street. My friend had designed code that caused the "capture" to appear upside down and garbled, unreadable. Those were DOS screens. I'm suspect the tech has been improved to be able to now capture graphical screens.

but very time consuming, sitting outside each persons house waiting for them to type account numbers, usernames, and passwords

it might be good for spying on suspected terrorists. Spyware is probably still their tool of choice because of the ability to steal information enmass.

seems like a good way to scare people into buying USB or wireless keyboards.:)

On a serious note: those bums who create spyware, malware, or try to steal from others rather than work for a living are IMO a waste of skin.

Correct, but if it could be done it would be done.
