problem|Explorer.exe dont load at start.

Hi all,
I use Winxp already and i have problem.
when my windows load, i see only the wallpaper, without icons,without start menu.
to fix it, i need to press "ctrl+alt+d ", and restart the explorer.exe .
What can i do to fix this problem?
I dont have viruses or spy, this problem happen even after format without internet.
i tried to change my windows cd's, nothing help me.
please..i need your help. i can't use on my pc in this way.

Note: This problem can be caused by "˜malware’.

Click Start > Run, type regedit and press Enter. In the left pane navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon. In the right pane, make sure there is a REG_SZ named Shell and it has a value of "explorer.exe" (no quotation marks). If it’s not there, create it by clicking Edit > New > String Value then right-click it and key in explorer.exe then restart the computer.

If the Start button is missing, open regedit via Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc then on the Applications Tab click "˜New Task’ at the bottom, type regedit.exe and press Enter.

To be prudent create a system restore point (%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe in Task Manager) before making any changes to the registry.

 

I have this value...what can i do with it?

 

Presumably, the above means the registry key is present!

I could be wrong but I think you have 'malware' on your machine and need to run HiJackThis.

 

what is "malaware "

 

Malware is a generic term for viruses, trojans, worms, diallers and the like, i.e. 'mal' as in the French word for sick.

but , the problem has been apper me even my p.c after format (c+d), and without internet...
soo i dont think it's because i have malaware on pc.
i belive that i need to change the registry value.

If i understood write, i need to enter the registry/...../winlogon, delete the "shell" and create new one?
because this "shell" already exist on my pc.
Never mind, im pc technical, and use win vista, so i dont have this problem, but all my pc of my client have this problem, i write is because i cant paste the Hjack log.

I know it’s not easy for you but I’m assuming, from what you have said, that the registry key does contain the correct value "˜explorer.exe’. If so, don’t change anything in the registry.

I’m also assuming that it’s a Windows XP machine and it has no malware.

It sounds as though the install didn’t work properly but you could try the System File Checker (SFC), as follows:

Start > Run and type "˜sfc /scannow’ (not the quotes but the space) and press Enter. Have your XP CD ready to put in the drive, should it be wanted. If the XP CD loads the main Windows set-up menu and covers the progress bar, just close it. SFC will exit with no closing dialogue. To see which files, if any, were replaced look in Event Viewer.
