Hi, has anyone Downloaded IE8? Are there any problems? Microsofts Digital Life news letter dated Tuesday 5th. August states it's here. Neil.

I am using it. I do not see any problems with it yet; although, IE7 froze a lot and IE8 does some of the same. Mainly for developer tools. I would recommend keeping IE7 until IE8 Final comes out.

it usually takes me a couple of weeks to get around new programs like eg:IE8 found IE7 & WMP11 great when they first came out in beta form, but IE8 was to finicky, might give it another try after the final release, I bet the wife & kids won't like the changes!!!

I'm trying out IE8 b2. I like the new and improved features.
Compatibility issues are plentiful. I'm even having issues on WindowsBBS in that I have to duplicate a tab to get a page to load or not freeze using XP.
Still it is still beta, but definately needs to go to beta 3.

Good of MS to make it available fo XP, unlike their mistake of not making IE7 available for W2K.

IE8 Beta 2 will not coexist with IE7; it is one or the other. Also, if you install IE8 onto an XP/SP3 machine there is a good chance you will not be able to uninstall it, so you will be stuck with it, unable to fall back to IE7.

As always - Never install a BETA application on a Mission Critical Machine.

Well, it lasted all of about 60 seconds on my desktop PC :(

I had used Beta 1 for 12 weeks exclusively when I was using my laptop earlier this year, and I had no problems (If there was a problem with a site, just switching to compatibility mode worked).

With Beta 2 I could not access WindowsBBS. If I clicked on the link for "unread posts ", a blank page would show. If I refreshed that page it would show but no links would be selectable/clickable.

I could also not log into Google AdSense.

Compatibility mode did not fix this.

So that was the end of my involvement in IE8 - Beta 2.

Glad you posted that :) Was on the edge of downloading and installing on the laptop - on which beta 1 would not even run - so you saved me a lot of grief :D

On my laptop (which is 64 bit as compared to my 32-bit desktop) Google AdSense login did work, WindowsBBS however still did not :(

I managed to fix it, seems IE8 B2 can't handle:
