printer problems

I can install my HP dj2500, but it won't print. Step by step, plz. I'm old and slow. It worked in the past, so I suspect a conflict somewhere. Thanks.

In 'Control Panel' you should find a section for printers. Open this and see if your printer is in there. Check that it is marked as the default printer, if not, right click on it, and select set as default printer. If it is already set up correctly then we will have to look deeper.

If the above doesn't correct the problem then please answer this:
When you select to print a document does a small icon appear in the bottom right corner of the screen?

 

I assume you mean a printer icon in the task bar. Yes, it's there and the print queue will open. The printer is set as the default printer in the Control Panel.

 

Yes that's the one. It seems like everything is OK, just the printer is not responding.

I can't think of anything else that could be a problem unless its something basic, like the printer is out of ink, or there is a fault on the printer.

May be another member could suggest something.

 

HP hounds you when any one of the ink cartridges is even close to running out of ink. When this happened to me I reinstalled the printer software. I have an HP Photosmart C8180. Been working properly ever since.

 

printer problems redux

I'm going to try to take the printer to the CyberMart where I bought it. I always re-fill my ink cartridges myself with the proper ink, of course. The language barrier is the main problem, followed closely by my lack of patience. I'll let you know how I do.
