XP Microsoft Update Error number: 0x80244019 -{SOLVED}!!!

Hello Friends,

I use Windows XP Service Pack 2 . Everything was fine with the updates, untill i got the error Update Error number: 0x80244019.

I tried lot of different means to rectify but of no avail. Turned off the Windows Firewall and Kaspersky seperately and both together, doesn't help.

I was sure that doing the following - should have surely helped but

Cleared the cookies
> Cleared the Temporary Internet Files as well as offline content
> Restored the defaults in the Security tab of Tools/Internet Options, for
> each zone.
> Restored the defaults in the Advanced tab of Tool/Internet Options.
> Under the Advanced Tab, uncheck Enable third-party browser extensions
> Click to select the Use HTTP 1.1 and the Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy
> connections
> checkbox.
>
> Reset the proxy list
> Open IE. Go to Tools Menu, Internet Options.
> Click the Connections tab, click the LAN Settings, and then click Advanced.
> Delete any entry in the Exceptions section.
> Quit IE
> Open a command prompt and run the following commands
> proxycfg -d
> proxycfg -u
> net stop wuauserv
> net start wuauserv

Yipieeeeeee! Thanks to Google search and God Bless the Bloke who had posted the anti error remedy step, finally got rid of the **** thing. Hope it helps all, who have faced the real frustration of this Update error.

It was the Trojan DNS.Changer Worm. Check out the Post scan Malware Log below ! The Trojan pest had nearly ******* up everything.

Now the Remedy - Get to http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php -
1) Download it, its free - Go for a fast Scan ( takes about 25 Minutes ) -

2) Restart your comp for removing the bloody Trojans -

3) Open Malware Byte's scan - Delete the Trojans and Immediately hit the Windows Updates.

Just for safety, Rescan using the ( FULL) Scan afterwards. Should be fit.
I think after this, i am surely gonna; have a strong Anti -Malware installed, only the Anti Virus is not enough.

Thank you Amor. After hours of search and no results, I followed your exact instructions and BINGO ! Similar malware detected and deleted and Windows update now working perfectly. I thought my AV was enough too, but this little program saved the day for me and will now be part of my arsenal against malware.
Am I glad I found this forum ! ... will be coming back for sure.
