    Suddenly !

... whenever I view my folders as Thumbnails, all that's displayed are the Thumbnails without any description of what they are.

I have to switch my view to in order to get a description of what each folder is.

For instance, if I open up a folder in the Thumbnail view thats got 6 or 7 subfolders under it ... there's usually some text under each Thumbnail telling me what it is ... like maybe "Financial Documents ". That description used to be there, but now it's not.

I tried changing to another view ( like List) and then changing back to Thumbnails but that didn't solve the problem.

Is it possible your left shift key is stuck. Open a folder set to display in thumbnail view or switching to thumbnail view with shift key pressed will hide the text. Press the shift key and switch view to something other than thumbnail then, while still holding the shift down switch to thumbnail again.

I didn't even know this was possible till doing a quickie google on your issue. What an interesting little gotcha'.

    Hi again,

Yeah! I'm glad this was the problem, disguised as perk for those that wish this view preference.

I used google and the keyword filters of xp thumbnails no text the list and topic I was looking for came up all over the place. Answer was found within the first 3 or 4. Wish I could say I slaved and searched high and low but in truth it only took a couple minutes from the search to the post. :)

Your welcome and thank you for the update.
