I have a DELL Optiplex 745 (with Windows XP, of course). It is a work computer that I have for use at my home. I need this computer for the graphic design work I do for a camp. I just brought it out yesterday and tried to set it up, but this far it hasn't worked. When I turn it on it displays a "no video" message and then goes directly to the Dell screen then the Windows XP, blacks out and then immediately restarts with the same cycle. It will continue this until I turn off the computer completely or go to the setup or boot menu, but after I exit it goes and pulls the same continuous rebooting stunt.
I have tried making sure the VGA cable was all the way in, I tried googling the problem, now I am trying this to see if anyone might possibly have any ideas what to do with this frustratingly stupid computer.

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode?

Hi AloysiusGrace, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

Adding to what Bill said, press F8 on startup to bring up the advanced boot options menu. From the list of options select Last Known Good Configuration and hit enter. See if the computer boots now. If the computer doesn't boot then press F8 on startup again and select Safe Mode. Hopefully that will work.

Also please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions.

Note: A common error is to forget to show your System Details in your profile:

Make sure to do the above when entering your System Details, thanks.

Thanks for taking the time to help me with this. I actually had a friend come out and work on it and it all works great.
