Hard drive suddenly shrinked?

Ok this is weird, and kinda scary...
I downloaded track mania nations forever setup, and when i started pressing it it didnt work. I tried again, and again, got pretty annoyed, pressed enter on it like a billion times...i checked the task manager i had a lot of it's processes running. then suddenly about 3 or 4 of them open and all tell me there's not enough disk space on C. I go to C and see the weirdest thing ever - I had 500 MB left. (at this point I have 200 something so it keeps changing, boy im confused). Before I think i had at least 1.5 gig.
So I try all kinds of stuff. I try to use the disk manager to place space from my other disk to the C one (also its the system drive, I have vista btw), but it doesnt let me do it for some reason, i tried to see how much all of my files inside C weigh and it was about 19 gig (***? i have 25 on the drive, why do i have 200 mb left?). I tried doing system restore to put it back to this morning maybe, but DUDE, it says not enough disk space on C to restore (okay dude thats just plain fail...) erhem. I checked properties in some program (I think partition magic or something) and it said i have 0.0 space left (is it using backup memory)?
So I'm kinda scared here - i hate when stuff like this happens, can anyone help? This is..phailurous....Thanks.

EDIT: Oh also, for some reason when i use explorer to browse my files, folders now look like plain folders, not having thumbnails of random images sticking out of them which kinda creeps me out...and my space just also increased to 302 MB. Gosh.

My System

I googled this item and it's system requirements are

Windows 2000/XP/XP-x64/Vista - CPU: Pentium IV 1.6GHz / AthlonXP 1600+ - 256 MB (512 MB with Vista) - video: 16 MB 3D accelerator DirectX 9.0c compatible - HARD DISK: 1.5 GB - Sound Card: 16 bit DirectX compatible - DIRECTX: 9.0c or higher (included in the installation

If you only had 1.5GB available on your system when you downloaded the program (setup file is 500MB). It appears to me you don't have enough available hard disk space to run the program. My only suggestion would be to install it on another drive (if you have one) or to uninstall the program.

Mitch

It maybe that you have extracted the setup files several times over and this is what has eaten up your hard drive space. I suggest you empty out your temp files .... I am not a Vista user, but in XP - should work in Vista? .......

Start > Run > %temp% > Enter and delete all files shown.

Well I had't installed the setup. I only tried to run it several times but it strangely wouldnt start up. Then it did start up, but instead of showing my a setup window where i can click next etc it gave me an error message saying i have too low disk space. I was going to install it on another disk too. And since I dont have it installed i cant actually uninstall it.
I also tried clearing my %temp% directory. But it wasnt much.
Also, shortly after I posted this my hard drive suddenly went down from 300 mb to 0 BYTES. Its as if something is on purpose trying to clog it up, when the stuff inside the drive weighs about 19 GB. Then my computer started acting weird - for some reason many blank AIM conversation windows started to pop up entitled "IM" and whatever the heck was going on i just force shut down'd it, so im from my dad's laptop now. Yeah..

Could be a malware too.

What's the url from where you have downloaded the file ?
What antivirus are you using ?

I suggest that you do a thorough scan of your computer with updated anti virus & antispyware programs.

I agree with rsinfo re. the possibility of malware - read this and post the logs in a new thread in the Malware & Virus Removal forum.

oh okay, sorry missed that.
Ok i posted the new thread.
Okay this might be slightly funny but umm... I turned off system restore, and it actually worked...back to 2 GB...heh...i guess its all good for now.
edit again: the memory did free up but it DOES slowly keep going down. IT was at 2.06 GB before now its at 2.02. So im still concerned...so this isnt a false alarm.
