Hi friends to the rescue always

I have a win8.1 laptop with working wifi. However when i change location, it does not connect to the internet even though it is connected to the wifi.

Allowing win8.1 to diagnose, it will fix it with DHCP, why is this so? Need to insight to this. Thanks guys.

Are you connecting to Free WiFi? Or are you using a Data Dongle? The Laptop WiFi should pickup WiFi within it's range in any location.
Have you got it set to connect automatically? Neil.

Yes Neil, it is wireless data that emit wifi. Laptop pick it up in the network. As it is not set to auto connect, i normally do a manual connect. it is then that it it sometimes can't get to the internet, not all the time though. So what is your view?

If you are using a Dongle - is it an ISP dedicated dongle. We can purchase Data dongles here in NZ but they are dedicated to one ISP (Spark, Vodafone or 2degrees.)
You may be out of range of a dedicated ISP. Neil.

Mate very down under, i don't think is a matter of out of range because the device is just next to me. This type of problem is quite common, i read some cases in the web. How now?:)

Sounds like you have a static IP configured.

Copy/paste below in the "Run" box:

    And post the output.

Dear Arie I do use static IP, in fact after resolving, it will change to dynamic. So what is the best or correct practice

That's because you use a static IP. Change it to use DHCP all the time.
