Resolved Updates keep changing my DNS settings

Why is it every time there is an update on win10 it changes my DNS settings back to the default rather than keep the ones I have set ?

Did you Check Validate settings when making the changes?

 

I have in the past it does not seem to make much difference, the reason that the settings were changed is that i was finding it very slow for pages to load especially on Google Chrome, i found that by changing the DNS settings helped with the page loading speed, I have a 50mbps connection and it seemed the only thing that helped with the speed pages are loading, as soon as the settings revert to the default the pages load slowly again.

 

I agree with Arie - try setting them in your router instead of your computer. The main advantage to doing it there is that is the only place you need to. Every device that then connects to your router will use those DNS settings.

I use 1.1.1.1 so in my router I have set the primary to 1.1.1.1 and the secondary to 1.0.0.1.

 

My router would not accept 8.8.8.8 as a second DNS but I have set the first DNS to my preferred setting and changed the windows pc to the router IP and it all seems to be working okay at the moment

 

I've never tried 8..8.8.8. I figured Google already knows too much about me. They don't need to know everything I do on the Internet.

In any case, if you want to use Google DNS services as your secondary, try 8.8.4.4.
