I am just interested if anyone knows anything about SpywareBlaster (like is it rogue)? Does it differ much from MS Defender? I have heard that it works well with Spybot S&D (which I use).

SpywareBlaster is a well known and reputable application. It is not a scanner, like MS Defender, capable of removing anything. Instead, it adds a number of entries to the registry to help prevent unwanted guests from making their home there. It is a good addition to your current security configuration.

OK thanks. It is a bit like Spybot's immunizer then, I suppose?

Very much alike, but very different too. They compliment each other well.

OK cheers. I have another question however. I use the Opera browser a lot & I have been told that it does nothing for that browser. Is it a good security device anyway for my computer, as an overall addition to anti-malware? If so, how?

The Opera browser has been a favorite of mine for over a year. Not many people use it, so the people that make the malware leave it while they go for the bigger targets like IE and Firefox. And it is faster.

I too have to agree that spy ware blaster and spy bot ssd work well together. I have installed them both on many computers with repeted infection problems after formating and reinstalling the os and all these machines have been up and running trouble free for a while, even with children using them. Spy ware blaster and spy bot ssd are a manditory layer of protection in any windows pc as far as I am concerned. they are almost bullet proof..

Add another layer of protection - hosts file entries. Block adware/malware sites in hosts & you can be protected from a lot of **** out there.

BTW I also use Spyware Blaster. I have used it for almost 2 years now.

Used to have it but deleted it it because it became a pita.

I use MS Defender, Spybot, Ad-Aware 2008, CCleaner and others.

    Is it compatible with Vista?

Would it be ok with vista home premium and also spywareguard.

    Thank you,

    Sean.

I couldn't say, since I have yet to use Vista, but I don't see why SWB couldn't be used.
