Is there a way to prevent SP2 from automatically dowloading and installing from auto-updates. I heard somewhere there is a registry key that would prevent it from recongizing it, but i just cant seem to find it anywhere.

    Thanks

    Zach

    No need for registry hack.

Right click on My Computer > properties > Automatic Updates tab > three settings. Pick the first choice and refuse the SP2 updates.

To shut off auto updates altogether: Start > run > type services.msc > on the services page > scroll down to auto update service > double click on the line > in the dialog box > stop the service.

    Regards - Charles

With SP2, go into the Control Panel > Security Center > Automatic Updates (bottom) I personally chose: "Notify, but don't download." This is really a good choice. It will just notify that there are updates! It doesn't seem to be an autonag.
