    Hi
I am about to replace my old computer running win 95 with a new one running win XP home
My question is i am using Microsoft Office 97 on my old computer can i install and use it on my new computer and is there likely to be any compatibility problems.
Has anybody had experience with any problems and what should i do to resolve them ?

    many thanks

    Hi alboy

I use Office 97 Pro and over the years have loaded it on w95 / w98SE / XP Home & Pro. Have never had an compatibility problem. Drop in Office 97 CD, choose your preferred apps. There will be an "old version" of IE on the CD, should give you an option not to load... or a message you have a newer version already loaded.

You will have to go up to MS to get all the updates if you want Access to work. Without those updates, you'll be getting a message about not enough memory to run the program! Just get the updates.

Also, the spell checker for Outlook and Outlook express won't initially work. The spell checker works off MS Word. A file known as csapi3t.dll is missing. Do a search for it. It's just a quick copy and paste job.
