Hi and welcome to the BBS,

That means it is looking for a network boot system, it can't find one, then it cannot find a device to boot to on the local computer.

First I would disconnect and reconnect (re-seat) the cables to the HDD (but we don't even know if it is a desktop or laptop computer)

I understand you can't run Windows, but look up the information at the system manufacturer's website and my next suggestion is to get the system manual/User Guide and see if there is a Detect Hard Disk Drives option in the BIOS (the manual will have general system specifications).

When you re-seat the HDD, write down the make and model. Do a websearch for those, along with the term Download and it should lead you to the HDD manufacturer's testing utilities
    ExcelStore

    Hitachi/IBM

    Samsung

    Seagate, Maxtor, Quantum

    Western Digital

Laptop or OEM desktop manufacturers might supply their own HDD testing utilities (occasionally an option in the BIOS).

    Matt
