I have had my desktop and my laptop networked together for a few months now with no problems. Suddenly the other day they stopped seeing each other. I left the homegroup on my desktop and rejoined with no problem but when I try to leave the homegroup on the laptop it won't let me.

When I ran the network troubleshooter on the laptop I got this message

" Either the PNRPsvc or the p2pimsvc is not running. "

I read an article that said where to go to find these and to right click on each one and slick start. I tried that and it wouldn't let me. Now I am lost.

what anti virus are you running? it sounds like your settings have been hijacked, which computer is your main computer??
download and run a hijack scanner that will give you a report on wether your settings and/or programmes have been hijacked.

I have already been there and done that page.

I have already had my homegroup set up and it worked just fine until last week.

Please clarify what is meant by:
Leave as in logoff, remove completely from that homegroup, shutdown, or what?

To remove myself from the homegroup so that I may try and rejoin the homegroup with my desktop. It will not let me leave the homegroup and it won't even let me see the homegroup password.

The PNRPsvc nor the peer networking grouping is not running and when I click on them to start they will not start.

It will most likely have given you an error. Post the error.

    Also verify the following services:

    HomeGroup Listener
    HomeGroup Provider

Try starting your computer from a clean boot:
    • Type msconfig it the Start Search box, and then press ENTER
    • On the General tab, select the option Selective startup, and then click to clear the option Load startup items
    • On the Services tab, click the Manufacturer column, to sort services by Manufacturer, and uncheck all non-Microsoft services
    • Click OK, and then click Restart

After restarting from a clean boot, try to leave the HomeGroup again.

Take note of any error messages.

I checked the HomeGroup Listener and it is started
I checked the HomeGroup Provider and it is started.

I did a clean reboot and tried to leave the homegroup and the message I got was "Windows couldn't remove your computer from the homegroup.

I rightclicked on the Peer Name Resolution Protocol Service and clicked start and the message I got was: "Windows could not start the Peer Name Resolution Protocol Service on local computer. Error-0x80630801:0x80630801

I rightclicked on the Peer Networking Grouping Service and clicked start and the message I got was: "Windows could not start the Peer Networking Grouping Service on local computer. Error 1068: The dependency Service or Group failed to start.

Check your network adapter setting for IPv6. Your network connection must have IPv6 enabled to create or join a homegroup.

If you have to (re)enable IPv6, reboot your system before trying to create a HomeGroup.

Is your network location set to Home network? HomeGroup only works on networks set to the Home network location.

Try deleting the file idstore.sst from \Windows \ serviceProfiles \ LocalService \ AppData \ Roaming \ PeerNetworking. To be able to see this location, type Folder Options in your Start Search box and press ENTER. Select the View tab, and select Show hidden files, folders, or drives.

I checked the network adapter settings and both the IPv 6 and the IPv4 have checkmarks.

Both computers do have the network location set to home network.

I deleted the idstore.sst. Do I need to restart since I deleted this?

Okay I got the laptop to leave the homegroup after I deleted the idstore.sst. Now I can't get the desktop and the laptop to join a homegroup. I tried to get the laptop to join the desktop but it doesn't say join,it says create;so I went back to the desktop with the new laptop homegroup password and left the group. I went to join the laptops group but the desktop doesn't say join either, just create!

    Both computers say home network.

You'll have to first re-create the HomeGroup.

I made sure that neither computer was in a homegroup then I started a homegroup on my desktop went to the laptop to join it to the desktop but when I tried the laptop did not want to join a group it wanted to create one. I then went back to the desktop and left its group, went back to the laptop and created a group then went to the desktop to see if it would join the laptops homegroup but no it wanted to create a group also. They still can't see each other.

I went to my internet access icon on my taskbar ( on both computers) and clicked on it then I rightclicked on the name of my wireless connection and then clicked on status; in that box it says

    IPv4 Connectivity: Internet
    IPv6 Connectivity: No network access
    Media State: Enabled
    SSID: (My network Name)

What does it mean when it says the system time is different from your local standard time?
