Hi Betsy Open Spybot Search & Destroy.
In the Mode menu click "Advanced mode " if not already selected.
Choose "Yes " at the Warning prompt.
Expand the "Tools " menu.
Click "Resident ".
Uncheck the "Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings) active. " box.
In the File menu click "Exit " to exit Spybot Search & Destroy.
SubInACL from Microsoft. Save it to the desktop, double click to run it (do not change it's default installation path). Let me know how that goes when you post back please.

I did everything you said and here is the new log. Those AutoTBar things appear to have stuck around. I clicked the little boxes and did what you said. SubInACL won't open
SubInACL wouldn't open. I got some message that said that it didn't know what program had created it??

There's no need to apply Service Pack 1a prior to installing Service Pack 3. These Service Packs are cumulative, meaning they contain all the fixes addressed in prior Service Packs. That said, please click the following link and download the Windows XP Service Pack 3 Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and Developers. I did everything exactly as you said. When I clicked on the desktop to install SP 3, it ran for awhile and then displayed this message:

First, lets see if the registry contains any pointers to svcsys (you are positive the error message says svcsys ?)RegSearch.zip and extract the contents of the zip file to it's own folder.svcsys on the top line and click OK. After completion, notepad will open with all the found instances, if any. Please post that log here.
