I've been using IE8 for about 2 weeks on xp without issue. Lately, it's taking about 5 to 10 seconds to close. Any ideas why this is happening?

Try IE Reset from here > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737
Or direct download to the Fixit Tool here > http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9646978

Not only does IE reset all Internet Explorer's settings, but it also removes all Internet Explorer temp files, all extensions are disabled (toolbars, browser extensions, and Browser Helper Objects), and ActiveX controls are restored.

Thanks Kimsland. It was either your lead or re-booting, but now it's okay. Appreciate the help.

    Thanks for the update :)

And because you've come across so nicely, try these two programs as well (to remove further temp file junk)
I know its resolved, but those tools I generally use everyday or so :)
