A small percentage of my emails get lost -- that is, messages that I send are not received. How can I identify the source of this problem... wireless connection, Thunderbird, anti-virus sending, anti-virus receiving software?

    Many thanks.

In first place, send the e-mails with a copy of yourself. It should be enough to, just, check if there is a copy of the message in your Sent folder.
But, if you get the e-mail copy, it must be at the other end. Not antivirus sending, nor Thunderbird.
It has happened to me for a variety of dumb reasons, like having sent e-mail in HTML format, or having used an unrecognized e-mail program.

Thanks. I should have mentioned that the emails are appearing in my Sent Mail folder. I'm beginning to think that it's related to the wireless connection since I didn't have this problem before I started using wireless. It's so frustrating not to know if a message got through, so I'll try copying to myself. Thanks again.

If you think that your wireless connection is at fault, then send an the e-mail with your address added to the Send to:. I use four addresses, so it is easy to send to a different address of mine.

Using another of my email addresses is an excellent idea. Most of the emails are going through, I'd say it's about 1/100 that doesn't it. Thanks again.

i also have an idea. maybe, some of the recipients use strict security settings and their email systems mark your emails as spam or potentially dangerous.

Thanks, I thought of that but I'm having the problem the problem with people whom I write to frequently. I don't think it would be likely that their filter would allow most of my messages to get through but not all.
