Zonealarm delayed start

Hello. I'm not sure if this is a security problum or an OS problum but here is what happens. I start my computer and everything seems to run normal until just before AVG or Zonealarm load. There is about a 40 to 60 saecond pause after desktop icons load before AVG or Zonealarn start to load. During this pause there seems to be no hard drive activity. Everything else seems to be ok after AVG and Zonealarm are loaded. I run virus scan,Adaware and Spybot regularily and defrag often but the startup never changes. This is more of a nusance than anything and maybe there is no problum but it seems strange to me. I have done searches for a similar problum but the results were different from mine so I hope this isn't a repeat. If it is ...please forgive me. Many thanks in advance,

i had similar problem with the free zonealarm after i update to version 5 , but not during the startup , it HANG the pc every now & then .
everything returns to normal after i uninstalled the version 5 n went back to version 4 .
