Hello, I updated my zone alarm on 3-31-06 and yesterday I configured it like it suggests on a website I saw, also I am using the free version, but I noticed it has blocked about 13,000 intrusions and 108 high rated, and after watching it, it blocks about 1 intrusion every other second, sometimes every second, is this normal? I run webroot spysweeper (full version) and it shows nothing, just wondering if this is normal, thanks in advance for any help.

That is perfectly normal behaviour and shows that Zone Alarm is doing it's job. The Internet is a dangerous place and hackers, etc are continually probing ports on third party computers such as yours either to try to steal info or give you an unwanted present in the form of malware, trojans, etc.

Your experience underlines the absolute need for an effective firewall.

For more info on what is probing look in the logs

amber1970--Just adding to what PeteC has said. It is good that you have this interest is seeing what ZA is doing. But, if you have not already done so, turn off the Alerts (Alerts and Logs tab|Main) and read about the activity from the log, as mentioned. The Alerts, themselves, can be very disconcerting. As PeteC said, ZA is doing its job and you can just forget about it.

Thanks alot for the help, I just noticed it was blocking alot more now than before I updated and changed my settings my spybot and webroot was not picking up anything, plus is there any advantage to buying the full version of zonealarm except for the antivirus?

The free version of Zone Alarm is more than adequate for the average desktop user. I have a feeling that their antivirus is not one of the very best. If you are looking for free and reliable antivirus look no further than AGV Free.
