I have recently installed Zone Alarm on my computer. I have read and followed the instructions the best I know how and things seem to be going fine. But this AM one of my ICQ friends was trying to request a chat and it wouldn't go through is it has in the past. I tried and it wouldn't go through on my end. I checked the ICQ settings and activited auto receive chat but it still didn't work. I don't understand the firewall settings, so I can't really make any educated changes there. Zone Alarm didn't ask me if I wanted to accept the chat and all of the settings in Zone Alarm for ICQ seem to be correct. Can anyone give me specific instructions on how to make it so I can send and receive chats without lowering my port protection? I tried lowering the settings but the chat still wouldn't go through and one of the ports was wide open, which doesn't seem good to me. Please be specific with instructions because this is one area I know nothing about yet.

I checked the link for answers to the question and then looked at other postings for MSN Messenger. It said lower security level on both ends, establish the connection and then raise the security level again. Seems like ZA should give a notification for the chat like it does for the regular messages to make life easier, but I will try this and see if it works. Thanks.
