When I first started having problem with floppies, I installed a parellel 100meg zip. I chained it with two printers an canon BJC and an Epson Photo. I discoved that IF you confuse which printer is to be used the interface will "lockup" and the end result is that the files (100 meg) will be OVERWRITEN in printer code. I didn't discover this untill I had to use my backup files and found them destroyed. I have changed to the IDE ZIP drive and had no problems. The parrell can still be used a transport but is questionable as backup.

One possible way round this, which I used with a single parallel port printer which did not like being chained through the Zip- lost it's bidirectional functionality I seem to remember.

Plug the Zip into the parallel port and plug the parallel port printer into a USB port with an adaptor cable.

Although I now have a USB zip my parallel port printer remains plugged into a USB port and works just fine.

I bet you also found that the IDE zip is much faster than the parallel zip!
