    Hi all!

I´m trying out the management of zip-files using the inherent XP tool. I´m used to WinZip but I thought I´d give it a try without it.

In WinZip, selected files can be extracted from the zip-archive but the XP tool can only extract all files in the zip-archive.

The alternative is to open the selected file(s) one by one. If the file type isn´t registered you have to select which application to use (NotePad in my case).
Next you have to select "Save as ", specify the path and "All files ". When I select "Save" I get an Error Message stating that a temporary folder could not be created and after clicking OK, I´m taken to the "Save as" dialoque box.

Is this the reality or am I doing something wrong?

If it is the reality, I´m sticking with WinZip.

    Thanks for Your time,
    Christer

    Hi Christer

According to Help and Support > search 'zip files' > 'Open a zipped compressed folder' you can extract single files by dragging them to a new location.

Sounds a bit long winded to me when WinZip does so much, so well :)

I'd stick with WinZip if I were you - much more user friendly!

    Hi Pete!

That was pretty simple, If I had put my own brain in gear I wouldn´t have to bother You!

    Now I´m going to make a ZIP-archive ...... ...... I´m sure I´ll be back!

    That too was pretty simple.

Either highlight the selected files, send to Compressed Folder and accept the auto-name.

Or create and name a Compressed Folder, then drag and drop.

    I need to see a shrink ...... :p ...... I´m talking to myself again ...... ...... in public!

    Hi Christer - anytime - it's a pleasure :)

It is often said that the world has two sorts of folk - those who look at help files - and those who ask those who have looked at help files - guess I'm in the former category!

    'Speak' to you soon!
