Now what have we got ourselves into.

Computer #1 - We open a web page and download one of the files for viewing.
    Works great.

Computer #2 - We open the same web page and ask for download - same file.
    However we get this message:
"Your current Security settings do not all this file to be downloaded ".

We check the security settings line by line, item for item for the two computers. Even printed out the data for an eyeball check.

    They are the same.

    Question:

Why does on work and the other one does not?
They both have Windows XP Pro and fully updated.

Both have been checked for virus and spyware etc.

daoguang33--Your question is a good one. I think jbarker has left out a word from the message. It should be "Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded ". That is an error message that can appear when you use Windows or Internet Explorer.
What does it mean? That is the problem. See the link to google.com below. The problem could be caused for several reasons.
Your question about what type of file is involved is also a good one.

jbarker--The most common Cause and Resolution is as follows:
    CAUSE
The security settings of your Web Browser may be set to High.
    RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, reduce the security settings of your Web browser:
If you are using Internet Explorer 6, click Tools|Internet Options|Privacy tab.
    Set slider to Medium.
Another approach would be to put the site into your Trusted Sites.
However, I confess to not being entirely sure whether you are trying to download a file or rather view a webpage when you say "download ".

As you can see, Google does not offer much.

On line viewing goes bad !

Opps ! We did shortchange on the typing.
    The message was:

"Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded ".

    1. We returned to the offending computer and the security level is set to "Medium ".

    2. We put the site into the "Trusted" area.
Tried to download the file but got a message:

This request must be "https" (the working one is "http ").
So, the "https won't work - period.

    3. The specific page and file and what we wish to do is as follows:

    A. http://tesla.liketelevision.com/liketelevision/tuner.php?channel=1050&format=tv&theme=guide

    B. We select "Watch It ".

    C. We get a real Player Vedio that works.
Note:It is not really a download - just a link view.

    _______________________________________________________

    Now we switch computers:

    Go to same page:

    A. http://tesla.liketelevision.com/liketelevision/tuner.php?channel=1050&format=tv&theme=guide

    B. We select "Watch It ".

    C. Error message is :

"Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded ".

    ____________________________________________________________

Checked security settings - both machines are the same !

jbarker--I am a little confused now.
Are you saying the two computers have now switched their ability to play the tesla video? Or is it still the same PC giving you the security message?
I guess I really should wait for your answer to that before commenting further.
    But...
I have the experience you have with computer 1. No problems watching the commercial from Tesla or the Merry Oldsmobile. (And my Privacy settings are Medium High.)
If computer 1 was already able to view the tesla stream, there was no need to put tesla into its Trusted Sites. But if it was the computer that was originally giving you the security message, has the problem apparently been solved by putting the tesla site into computer 1's Trusted Sites?
I understand computer 2 is now the one giving you the message. If you put tesla into computer 2's Trusted Sites, make sure the the box at the bottom "Require Server verification..." is either checked or unchecked--the same as computer 1--before clicking Apply. (I am not sure what you were saying about https. That box is the one that requires a site be https or not in order to put the site into Trusted Sites. The tesla site is not an https site, so should not need the box to be checked.)
Can you now play the video on computer 2?
I assume you have Real Player installed on computer 2. Is it the same version of Real Player as on computer 1?
Have you tried opening Real Player first before clicking Watch It? Or perhaps using Real's File|Open Location to navigate to the tesla site to play the video?
Or you could try a different Player, such as Media Player Classic. It is a available here.

One computer plays a file - the other does not !

Guess we messed up when we left out a word.
We only have two typing fingers and one of them makes mistakes
once in awhile. Don't know which one !

    However, here is the problem:

    1. We have two computers.
    2. Windows XP Pro is the OS on each.
    3. We have DSL internet service.

    4. We have only one modem - ethernet connection.

    ___________________________________________________

    Now:

We can play the vedio on computer # 1.

We then disconnect the DSL cable and connect it to computer #2.

The file will not play on computer # 2.

    _____________________________________________________

And both are setup equal - every setting we can think of !

    _____________________________________________________

Sorry, we is 80 years old and computer dumb.
But, why does one work and the other does not ?

Another thing - Windows XP Pro is on each computer.

Yet when we shut down computer #1 it automacially turnes off.

But on computer # 2 we get a message " It is now safe to turn your computer off ".

I'm about ready to scrap both these computers and go buy me a new one !
But they are good ones - Intel IV 2.8 mz - 1 gig memory - and the best out there !

jbarker--Is more than one firewall running on computer #2? Don't forget that WinXP Pro installs a firewall by default, and if a third party firewall is also being used, that could cause problems. If a third party firewall is being used, disable Windows Firewall. (Control Panel|Windows Firewall)
And I understand you have put tesla into Trusted Sites on PC#2.
Otherwise, I have run out of ideas for the present, but I will think more about it.
Maybe someone else will chime in.

As far as the " It is now safe to turn your computer off "message, see here http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=810903
