Yahoo messenger encountered problem

I downloaded latest version of Yahoo messenger 5.5 but on logging I get error it had encountered problem pl inform Microsoft , can view error report but on closing this message YM also closes but if I donot close this error message I can continue to use Yahoo mssngr.
Any one help please

You could try reinstalling the messenger.
In the meantime, disable error reporting:
Right-click My Computer, Properties, Advanced tab. Click Error Reporting button and disable it.

 

tried reinstalling but no able to resolve

Thanks abarax, I tried to reinstall after removing entire old program but problem persist do u know whom to contact in yahoo or is it Microsoft I.E compatability problem

As per your advice Abarax I tried to disable error reporting but still it reports ,,,if I totally diable then not able to open Ymssngr,
message still appearing it is ridiculous issue

 

Did you install Yahoo Companion?

 

I have a friend who had similar problems and I suggested uninstalling version 5.5 and installing version 5.0.0

Yahoo Messenger Problems

You might wish to do a search for either of the following two
pieces of software: MIRANDA or TRILLIAN.

Either program allows you to connect to AIM, ICQ, and
Yahoo Messenger without having to install the bulky
and ofttimes buggy software associated with either.

workaround but

I used this option to run program compatiblity click Ypager.exe properties and choose run program win98 or 2000 then YM started working however webcam doesnot start.

Another problem if revert backs to ver. 5 is if the other end friend has ver 5.5 then webcam will not work. back to square one
