    Hi there,

I got this blue flash and XP shut down.
On reboot it came up with missing or corrupt <Windows root>\system32\hal.dll
How does one handle a problem such as this?

OK I have gone from bad to worse here after downloading and installing a hal.dll file to Windows system32.

Now I get... ARC Firmware boot configuration problem did not properly generate ARC for HAL and system paths.

Now when I boot with XP Home CD installed I get a rotating boot sequence no matter if I select Safe Mode, normal configuration etc.etc.

I honestly really don't want to have to do a reinstall and lose everything as is the case with us all so lets see how we get through this one eh?

    ARC Firmware
Believe it or not this is a constant reocurring problem on reboot but I have discovered it is just the result of rebooting into the wrong HD.
To correct this I have to go int the boot configuration {each time} and select the appropriate HD for it to boot from.
I now have to discover why it does not lock in the correct HD to boot from.
This could be the answer to many who are experiencing ARC FIRMWARE problems.
