    hi
ive tried to install a new hard drive MAXTOR Y7250PO,
its 250gb and my bios finds all of it.

However ive loaded windows xp pro from an origional xp cd and windows will only find about 130gb the rest dosent even show up as unallocated space.

Does anybody know how to get windows to find the rest please?

    Hi lloydy!

You need to install SP1 or preferrably SP2 since it is more recent. Without any of the SP's, XP-RTM will not see harddisk sizes above that size.

If XP-RTM has been installed on the 250-giger, after installing SP2, the missing space will appear in Disk Manager as unallocated space.
