It started yesterday when my XP-Pro SP3 started rebooting itself every few minutes and it seemed to get progressively worst.

I cleaned and reseated all the pc boards
I removed all the start-up programs
I removed all the peripherals except the monitor
All the fans are running properly
The bios battery was replaced several months ago and the date/time is still ok
I tried dozens of warm boots and cold boots and sometimes it will reboot even before it finishes loading

Thru most of this, the green power light on the front would stay on even when things were powered down (but power switch was still on) and I know that the green light is Not supposed to stay on like this but after I reseated all the boards, this problem fixed itself.

It got so bad last nights that nothing at all would happen when I pushed the cold boot button
I finally just shut the power button off and went to bed.

This morning I turned it on and it immediatedly booted up to completion but started rebooting again after 2-3 minutes the same as before.

I booted into Safe Mode and started to run Malwarebytes but then it kept rebooting.

What else do I look for?

    Hi robls99.

The first thing I would do is to Disable the Automatic Restart on System Failure in Windows XP to see if your computer is getting a blue screen or not.

Then after you do that try resetting your BIOS settings to their default values. If you enter the BIOS and leave the machine in the setup utility does the computer reboot at all?

Even though the fans are running make sure the heatsink on the processor isn't clogged with dust. Sounds like an overheat problem.

Thanks guys but unfortunately I can't keep the cpu going long enough to disable the Auto Restart.

Also, cleaning the cpu fan was the first thing we did. Since I do that twice a year it wasn't all that bad.

I tried to put it into the Use Last Good Configuration or also Safe Mode but it rebooted in the middle and now it just boots up into the safe mode selection menu and I can't seem to get out of it no matter what I choose.

    Any other suggestions?

I was able to see the BSOD for a split second which I did repeatedly to read:

    Bad_System_Configuration_Info ....

but this could just be because the Safe Mode is now locked up and the reboot always returns to the Safe Mode selection page??

    Pete,

Thanks for the error message help.

My tech guru came over and we swapped out the ram and power supply but it didn't help. He took my computer back with him and he's going to bench test the mb to try to find the problem.
