    Hi guys,
I was recently trying to upgrade my Windows ME to XP Professional (I think it was an academic version, as it had a sticker thing on the front of the box saying so), but when I tried to install it, a box came up saying "The language of this installation of windows differs from the one you are installing. The option to upgrade will not be avaliable. "
And then when I pressed okay, another box came up, saying "Setup cannot continue because upgrade functionality is disabled and your copy of windows XP only allows upgrades ".

Can any one help me please?

*EDIT: When I tried a full installaton of XP, instead of an upgrade, it said I needed to insert a cd of my current windows version (In this case, WinME), however I couldn't even do that because our computer came with ME and had no product disk.

    Hello ladyd,

a box came up saying "The language of this installation of windows differs from the one you are installing. The option to upgrade will not be avaliable. "
Can't help with that, new one on me.

When I tried a full installaton of XP, instead of an upgrade, it said I needed to insert a cd of my current windows version
Any WinMe disc will do, can you borrow one? Or, try a 98, it might work, never tried that. If using 98 does work, please post back and let us know.

Here is a full install reference, full install better anyway:

    A 95 or 98 CD will work. I have used a M$ OEM 95 and a 98SE Upgrade to qualify.

Thanks for the confirmation Mark; I suspected it would.
