Does anyone remember which recent XP update is responsible for prompting the user to click the toolbar everytime a pic or download is requested ?

Hi, welcome to the board. I'm not aware of any recent update that causes this type of behavior. Installing Service Pack 2 caused a change that sounds like it might be what you're talking about though. It wasn't really the toolbar you have to click on though, rather a small yellow bar just beneath the toolbars. If this is what you're talking about, and you want to get rid of it, try this. In IE, click tools>internet options>security and then click internet. Then, click custom level. Scroll down to the downloads section and where it says "automatic prompting for file downloads" select enabled.
