XP upates fail what gives? What should I do? Keeps trying install.

Hello Folks,

I about to upgrade to Pro from Home. It is SP3, but I have no unistall for SP3. I have received a number of updates and allowed it to install after reading what the updates were. I rebooted after the updates finished and when I came back I got a message that stated the failure of all them. And now, I get the install of these again.

Should I try to install them again? If I upgrade first, would that help? If I upgrade after would that hurt?

I just need to be pointed in the right direction.

Hi, I'm trying to understand from your Post that you currently have XP Home SP3 installed? You want to upgrade to XP Pro? Why do you want to uninstall SP3? As I understand it, just insert XP Pro CD and follow the instructions to Upgrade rather than do anything else. I Googled and found that many have just upgraded over their XP Home without problem and did not lose their info. Neil.
