I'm not sure where to start to isolate my problems with I.E.7 and SP3.

I did have some issues loading some web pages with I.E. 7 before SP3, but it happened rarely, and inconsistantly, so I didn't worry about it too much. Maybe I had more issues than I noticed, because now if I have an issue with a website that might be a problem with I.E. I test it by using Firefox.

    Of course I didn't uninstall I.E.7 before installing SP3 and then reinstall I.E. 7

I get web pages, including microsoft download sites that hang, pages that come back with run time errors, links to You tube video that try to load and then I get a message: We're sorry, this video is no longer available.
When trying to get to www.ticketmaster.ca I sometimes but not always get this message:
    ' Please note.
We limit the rate of web page requests that can be made by individual users in any given time period. Your web page requests have exceeded these limits and your access has been temporarily disabled. We impose these limits to protect the web site from automated programs, as part of our efforts to promote fair access to tickets. Please allow several minutes and then try again. ' (this one happened with first try going to website, what limits?).

I have none of these issues with Firefox, so I know I have a problem with
    I.E. 7, SP3 or both.

I've tried I.E. without add ons, clearing cache, temp files etc with no difference.

So, if I'm going to uninstall SP3 and uninstall I.E. 7, reinstall SP3 and then reinstall I.E. 7 is there anything I should do before going thru that process? (Besides a backup and http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=72978). What will happen to my I.E. add ons if I uninstall I.E. 7? Should I disable them before uninstalling I.E. 7? How about my settings? Will I lose my preferences in I.E.? I will export my favorites just in case.

    Yes do this first!

    1. Cleanup (you may already have the below)

D/L install and run ATF-Cleaner clear all except passwords in all browsers you have. Run repeatedly until no more found.

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/ATF_Cleaner_d4949.html

D/L and install CCleaner: Clean temps and registry. Run both (temp and registry) repeatedly until no more found.

    http://www.ccleaner.com/download/bui...wnloading-slim

    2. Clear all TCP/IP possible issues!

Drag mouse with left button down across the each line below then rt click and copy then paste each line below 1 at a time to an open CMD prompt and hit enter, depending on your setup you may get errors, ignore any errors for now.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    netsh interface ip delete arpcache

    ipconfig /flushdns

    ipconfig /release *

    ipconfig /renew *

    ipconfig /registerdns

    nbtstat -RR

    netsh winsock show catalog > "%USERPROFILE% "\Desktop\lsp.txt

    netsh winsock reset catalog

    netsh winsock show catalog >> "%USERPROFILE% "\Desktop\lsp.txt
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
After the last netsh above there will be a new icon on desktop (lsp.txt). Post this back!

    Reboot

    3.
    Download Dial-A-Fix (DAF)
    http://wiki.djlizard.net/Dial-a-fix#...C_and_articles

Have XP CD available in case DAF needs a file.

Check all boxes on the screen (clear any restrictions if it shows any)
    Then click GO!

When the entire page is finished click the HammerHead at bottom to go to the second DAF page.

Here 1 at a time do the below

    Reinstall BITS
    Reset networking interfaces

Watch for any File not found or other errors and make note as this may lead to the fix!

    Reboot retest!

    Get back to us.

Your 'do this first' list. Is that to do before uninstalling SP3 and then I.E. 7 or before reinstalling SP3 and then I.E. 7? I have RegSupreme Pro. I believe that should be all I need for cleaning up the registry, right?

RegSupreme Pro is very good but CCleaner has a gentler safer Reg clean but also has Temp cleaning and other features.

    Same for ATF-Cleaner.

Likely were you to run RegSupreme Pro and then CCleaner Reg clean it would find things RegSupreme Pro missed. But then in reverse order and the opposite would find some.

One temp cleaner or Reg cleaner is usually not enough.

Run RegSupreme Pro but in this case the temps are more important I think.

The entire post in the other thread was before resorting to a reinstall et.

Do a Systen restore point first.

Okay Mike. If I understand you correctly, you want me to do your list and see if my problems are fixed before I do any uninstalling reinstalling stuff. I have some of those clean up tools already but I'll download the others and go thru your list, in order, tomorrow, and post back.

I have GoBack and recent backups. This is my only home PC.

    Yes!

GoBack and images are fantastic but a System restore is still important and a faster fix when it works.

I use images also but still use SR and Erunt!

Perhaps I'll turn it on temporarily. I've always thought GoBack a better option.

Okay Mike. I did the 'list'. I am still having the issues I had before doing it.

Was I supposed to click on on the Software distribution button, because I didn't.

    Here's the Isp.txt View attachment 2315

Here's the Dial a fix log View attachment 2316

Should I revert my drive back to a time before I did the list?

No no need to revert. As nothing but good was done even tho it did not fix your issue.

OK Close IE then Control Panel-Internet Options-Security at bottom of screen click Reset all zones to default level

    then
    click Advanced
    click Reset

    Reboot retest for issues.

Out of curiosity why go to internet options thru control panel rather than thru I.E. ?

Also, if it doesn't help, can I put settings the way I had them before Reset?

It disables browser add ons. Can I get them back enabled thru Manage add ons after?

My dog wants to go for her walk, so I'll check back in a bit.

Because IE not running this way and has no active open files or processes even the home page!

No big deal! And why would it matter if in the end you end up uninstalling and reinstalling. All these will come back either thru updates or auto installs when you click a link that requires them. Remember "This site requires Macromedia... yada yada yada.

I don't walk dogs. I open door tell dog "be back in and hour" sometimes he is a little late but mostly he is on time!:D

Ok so you have Sys restore goback and images.

Go here Download the latest IE7.
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/default.mspx

Run the download and overlay (Reinstall) IE7.

Make sure IE7 is closed before installing.

This don't do it. Then it is time to do your un-install !

    Now you're scaring me.

I had already downloaded I.E. 7 , but I downloaded it from your link, just to make sure I had the latest. I may not get to this until next week. I want to have time to clean up, if I make a mess of things. Should I uninstall or disable anything running?

Thanks for helping me with this. I really do appreciate it.

Okay I'm back. Should I uninstall any updates to I.E. 7 before installing it over itself?

For example KB 950759 installed 10th Jun 08
