    Processor AMD Clawhammer 3800+
ACPI Settings in BIOS: ACPI On, Standby / Hibernate enabled.
    Internet Connection: DSL

I had a very large file to download. Screen Savers and Hibernate after 30 minutes kept interrupting the download.

    What I did:

1.) I turned off my screen saver,
2.) I went into Power Management and changed the settings To "Always On ".

    After the download completed:

1.) I reselected my screen saver.
2.) Reset Power Management to the following:

    A.) Home/Office Desktop
B.) Turn Off Monitor - Never (Any other setting and monitor does not come back on after Stand By)
C.) Turn off HDD 1 hr.
D.) Stand By After - Never
    E.) Hibernate After - 45 Minutes

    Advanced Settings Tab:

    Computer Power Button = Hibernate
Computer Keyboard Sleep = Stand By

    Hibernate Tab:

    Hibernate is Enabled.

    The Problem:

When I put my PC into either Stand By or Hibernate the computer resumes after a few minutes. Simply, my computer doesn't stay in Stand By or alternatively, Hibernate.

    Things Worked Before:

I changed Power Management settings to "Always On ". If placed in Stand By the PC remained so, until I brought it back to full power state. The same is true for Hibernation.

    What I did:

Updated ACPI drivers. When that didn't make any difference I rolled driver back to ACPI Uniprosessor PC.

    I appreciate your comments.

I can't give you any magic fixes :(:)

I have found that when Standby and Hibernation are working on a desktop machine, everything is fine. When they don't work, I can't say I have had (any?) success fixing them. I just go to making customised power settings.

Standby is more designed for mobile computers.

Updating the ACPI drivers was a good try. If you just went into the drivers properties and clicked Update Drivers, I suggest you find the full set of chipset drivers for your motherboard.

ACPI can sometimes be updated by a BIOS upgrade, but I would check if it was mentioned in the information about the upgrade first.
