I am building a new PC for a friend and trying to load Win XP Pro.

Copies files OK - at Starting Windows - first auto reboot fails with message:

    \Windows\system32\l_intl.nls missing or corrupt.

Message then goes on to say reboot from cd and select repair - problem is that the OS is not fully loaded so there is no OS to select - not that I know anything about Recovery Console.

Any thoughts as to how this problem may be resolved? I could copy the file to floppy from my PC, but how to load to new pC.

The CD appears to be OK and has worked several times in the past; I have access to a copy which might work and may try this when I can get hold of it.

    Any suggestions welcomed

    TIA

    Arie,

Thanks for that but I have already been down that route - I don't have Windows installed yet so cannot repair - the installation has only got as far as the first auto boot and will not proceed, i.e. will not boot because of the missing/corrupt file.

Having been round in circles a couple of times and reformatted the drive to no effect I think the CD has developed a fault and the file is either not loaded or only partly loaded.

I have got hold of the backup copy of the CD and will try again tomorrow.

Failed completely on this - no way would XP install from three separate back up copies of the CD - yet they worked fine a couple of days ago.

Reformatted the 80 gig drive to FAT32 on a 98 m/c and installed 98SE instead. My friend is ecstatic - mind you PII ? MHz > Athlon 1.7 GHz is bound to impress!
