What would cause winxp home edition to reset the resolution each time I restart? I set it to 800x600 and 24 color and it restets to 800x600 8 color. I don't even know what the 8 is --it's not like win 98se at all. Thanks.

    Video card...?

What tyhpe of video card do yuo have installed.

It is possible that it is reverting back to default config for that particular vid card...
Try checking for upgraded drivers on yoru video card.

I have heard that from another source too, I'll check it out. I just assumed it was new enough to not need updates, I
guess it isn't. Probably sat on a shelf someplace for a while;) Thanks. I'll see what I can do and let you know.

    Being new...?

There is a description for that..
    But...
Being new and just out of the box is no guarantee.

As it is I bought a CD Writer the other day. Brand spanking new...
    Still original box...
Of course it is only a 2x 6x SCSI unit, but it is still in an unopened box...
But yes I understand. First things first always. When you buy something, and it does NOT work right off of the bat wehn you install it and what YOU think are the curretn updated drivers...

Go to the NET, look up updated drivers for it, install and go again.
